Job Description:
This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Facilities Support. As a Chief, Office of Facilities Support, you will be responsible for administering the activities of the office and for major programs requiring design and construction services.
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Leading a facilities management program for an organization, including oversight of multiple skilled trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, HVAC, carpentry, paint, masonry, plant services); AND Participating in projects, studies, or reviews of building systems (e.g. structural, electrical, industrial ventilation, and air conditioning) requiring design/construction services; AND Implementing facilities modification, repair, and improvement programs aligned with organizational goals; AND Communicating with high-level internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
As a Chief, Office of Facilities Support, you will: Perform top level technical assignments requiring ingenuity, resourcefulness, technical competence, and experience as administrator of Bureau facilities improvement programs. Manage work performed by the facilities support shops (Power Plant, Plumbing and Sheet Metal, Electric, Plant Services and Carpentry, Paint and Masonry) such as preventative maintenance, temperature control services, recycling services and other customer requests; allocation of administrative and production space, and for setting BEP policy on space, facilities and equipment. Serve as project leader for long-range broad studies or reviews with respect to central plans systems and capabilities, key facilities support functions (including structural, electrical, industrial ventilation and air conditioning} and design/construction standards for the BEP. Plan, develop, implement policy, develop manpower requirements, define facilities modification, repair, and improvement programs. Participate in all phases of long-range strategic planning. Identify problem areas, coordinate activities, and recommend program changes to improve the quality of services provided.
