About the Position: Monitors and instructs Student Application during Practical Exercises on Equipment. Evaluates student progress and gives specialor remedial attention when appropriate. Counsels students as required and submits recommendations for further actions to the Supervisor, presents oral and written comments on student progress and learning abilities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: applying skill in operating a variety of horizontal engineering equipment in the application of instructing and teaching students in subject area; utilizing proper instructional methods to train students on horizontal engineering equipment; ensuring training is in compliance with lesson plans, training schedules and safety policies and procedures, recommending revisions to programs of instruction, testing materials, training aids and lesson plans; and managing proper maintenance and accountability of equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
Serve as an Instructor for the 554th Engineer Battalion.
Teach enlisted, civilian, and foreign student personnel on a variety of Engineer Horizontal Heavy Equipment.
Monitor and instruct student application during practical exercises on Equipment.
Develop revision of new and existing Lesson Plans, Programs of Instruction, Skill Level Qualification Tests, and other course materials.
Responsible for accountability of tools, training aids, and equipment ensuring proper use, care and maintenance.
