This position is located at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA, Galley Program. Incumbent performs semi-skilled and routine food service tasks in support of the Galley Program. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual tasks in food preparation in food service areas that require light to moderate physical effort. This is a flex temporary position without benefits (0-40 hours per week based on program needs)

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must possess ability to read and follow simple recipes, instruction and combine ingredients for cooked dishes. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Skill in cash handling and ability to operate a computerized cash register. Must pass an annual physical examination, obtain a health care card and pass the Food Handler's Sanitation Course. Knowledge of food characteristics to determine freshness and adequate serving temperatures. Ability to operate food preparation appliances, i.e., food slicer, blender, grill, fryer, etc. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform duties as such short order grill cook and/or assist the cook in the preparation of lunch or dinner meals. Perform a limited variety of tasks, such as grilling foods to order, i.e., hamburgers, pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc. Select food items to be services and ensure their freshness. Take direct customer orders or ticket orders from waitresses ensuring items are cooked to order, served using authorized portion controls and temperature and turning to avoid burning. Assist/or prepare simple items such as sandwiches, soups, salads. Measure and weighs ingredients according to simple recipes or as directed. Place cooked food on serving dishes, steam or food carts. Ensure group orders are served simultaneously. Keep grills, stoves, refrigerators and working areas in a neat and clean manner in accordance with safety and sanitation regulations. Notify supervisors of items needed in order to maintain stock. May be required to assist in taking inventory. May be required to collect money, operate a cash register and prepare necessary documentation for cash fund accountability. May be required to occasionally perform other duties within the facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
