This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Comp Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) handles the day-to-day operations of Army installations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: Perform police operations and/or law enforcement that comply with policies and procedures; execute leadership duties by distributing workload; provide law enforcement guidance and direction to subordinates; arrange proper response of emergency units to various calls; and coordinate initiation and participation in the police training program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Observe or respond to reports of crimes in progress, citizen complaints, and emergency situations to include natural or manmade disasters.
Enforce all federal, state, and local criminal, traffic, and motor vehicle laws and regulations.
Assist in law enforcement duties and services at all levels.
Serve as a second-line supervisor responsible for planning, directing, and supervising police officers.
Serve as Deputy Chief of Police of the Patrol Division.
Independently plan and manage all law enforcement, traffic controls, and patrol activity.
